Job summary

Simmons University in Boston seeks Subject Matter Specialists (adjunct nursing faculty) to provide targeted tutoring and remediation for nursing students, helping them master foundational and advanced concepts and prepare for NCLEX success. Qualifications include BSN, MSN, MA RN APRN license where applicable, and at least 2 years of clinical nursing experience; teaching or tutoring experience is preferred.

Compensation is $3,500 per subject, with pay transparency and flexible, impact-driven

• Facilitate review of NCLEX-style questions to strengthen clinical judgment and test-taking skills.
• Collaborate with faculty and Academic Coaches to coordinate student support and promote academic progress.
• Monitor student progress and identify opportunities for timely academic support.
• Maintain accurate tutoring records in accordance with program expectations.
• Participate in student success initiatives that support retention, progression, and academic achievement.

JOB SUMMARY

Subject Matter Specialists are adjunct faculty who provide targeted academic support to students experiencing challenges in nursing coursework. Through structured group-based tutoring, targeted review sessions, and remediation support, they promote mastery of foundational and advanced concepts, evidence-driven clinical decision-making, and preparation for NCLEX success.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties related to study group facilitation as assigned by the Assistant Director of the Bridge and Mentoring Center

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• BSN required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MSN to work with undergraduate students
• Previous tutoring or teaching experience

Compensation: $3,500 per subject, as assigned

Compensation for adjunct faculty is established at a set rate per course and does not vary based on experience, education, or other factors.
