Job summary

T5 Data Centers in Cheyenne, WY is seeking a Mechanical – Subject Matter Expert to lead mechanical operations within our data center environment. You will be the primary contact for all mechanical systems and ensure safety, reliability, and uptime through hands-on leadership.

Key duties include guiding maintenance with the onsite vendor, developing procedures, training junior technicians, and reporting on mechanical performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • 5-7+ years in mission critical environments with a focus on mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operation, maintenance and repair of all mechanical systems in the data center.
  • Develop emergency, maintenance and drill procedures with Engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety policies within the data center.
  • Close out mechanical issues via CMMS open work orders and shift reports.
  • Provide site-specific mechanical training to the Engineering Team.
  • Liaise with client engineers on daily issues and improvements.
  • Generate periodic technical reports detailing activities and issues.
  • Uphold professional image of the client and T5 in all interactions.

Job description

The Mechanical – Subject Matter Expert (SME) is the main point of contact for mechanical operations and is

responsible for all aspects of data center operations related the operation, maintenance, and repair of all mechanical related critical environment systems. This lead role will help set the standard of mechanical operations with an unwavering attitude and commitment to safety and reliability within the Data Center. The Mechanical - SME will drive continual improvements to the operational excellence of the data center by leading by example by adhering to company standards and industry best practices. They will have a mindset of ongoing learning and development and will be responsible for daily hands-on training and development of junior technicians.

As a member of the company’s Facilities team, the Mechanical - SME will be responsible for providing field level technical expertise.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Working with the onsite Mechanical vendor to ensure the ongoing operation, maintenance, and repair of the Mechanical, the installation of updates, and the functionality of all Mechanical alarms and notifications
  • Development of detailed emergency, maintenance and drill procedures (in conjunction with the Engineering team)
  • Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the Data Center domain
  • Follow up and close out on all Mechanical issues raised by the Engineering Team through daily shift reports and CMMS open WO’s
  • Maintain all Mechanical equipment at optimal operational level
  • Develop and keep up to date all site Mechanical related procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs and DRILLS. All documentation should be consistent with current client standards
  • Supervision of Mechanical drill and scenario training aids
  • Generation of periodic technical reports detailing the activities and issues relevant to the Data Center domain
  • Provide site specific Mechanical training to the Engineering Team
  • Assist in the development and training of technicians with Mechanical related issues
  • Liaise closely with the client engineers with regard to day to day issues & improvements/solutions to the operation of the Mechanical plants
  • Report health and safety breaches through the site process
  • Ensure the professional image of the client and T5 is presented to staff and visitors at all times.
  • Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by local management
  • Develop a good working relationship with all members the client staff and representatives
  • Communicate any lessons learnt from project implementations and highlight them to the site team to ensure measures are put in place to avoid these for future deployments
  • Ensure the provision of a Safe and Healthy working environment. To include the wearing of the Supplier uniform at all times and appropriate PPE as required
  • This role also includes assisting the Engineering day team if required to provide additional support within Critical Environment operations
  • Adhere to all relevant Danish safety laws
  • Complete other such duties consistent with your role as you may be assigned by T5FM management

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent experience, required
  • 5-7+ years’ experience in mission critical environments with a heavy emphasis on mechanical systems and operations

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required for working effectively with FOM, team members, vendors and customers on daily data center management
  • Good written technical proficiency to support the creation and revision of process documentation (MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs)
  • Above average problem-solving and analysis skills for evaluating a situation, identifying solutions, and working with leadership and teammates to resolve
  • Embraces a team-based mentality by building positive morale and team spirit, supporting teammates efforts to succeed, and recognizing teammates accomplishments
  • Able to function effectively and maintain focus in high-pressure situations
