Job summary

Tech Army, LLC is seeking an Electrical Safety Officer to oversee the Electrical Safety Program and provide expert guidance to project managers, engineers, and field teams in Los Alamos, NM.

The role requires seven years of field experience, a Bachelor's in Engineering, and the ability to obtain a DOE Q-level clearance. You will lead incident investigations, safety assessments, and reviews of IWDs and LOTO procedures, ensuring compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE, and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with 7 years of field experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q-Level Security Clearance.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations incl. NFPA, IEEE, OSHA (NFPA 70E).
  • Experience with low-voltage AC/DC systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to complete Radiological Worker II training.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for electrical safety and administer the client's Electrical Safety Program.
  • Act as a technical resource for employees and management regarding electrical safety concerns.
  • Conduct incident investigations, determine root causes, and develop corrective actions.
  • Perform workplace inspections to identify electrical hazards across various environments.
  • Lead reviews of IWDs and LOTO procedures.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical safety codes, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Provide advanced technical support to engineers and scientists in resolving complex electrical safety issues.
  • Participate in evaluating controlled items and services to ensure compliance with electrical safety requirements.
  • Perform calculations to determine electrical severity scores for incidents.
  • Develop and maintain electrical safety policies, procedures, and design standards.

Job description

The Electrical Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing the Electrical Safety Program, providing expertise in electrical safety, and serving as the primary point of contact for all electrical safety-related concerns. This role provides electrical safety support to construction projects by working directly with project managers, craft personnel, work planners, and field professionals to ensure the effective implementation of electrical safe work practices. Additional responsibilities include conducting incident investigations, leading safety assessments, reviewing work documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable safety standards. The position requires advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, electrical safety protocols, and regulatory requirements, along with strong communication, leadership, collaboration, and technical problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with seven (7) years of relevant field experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Q-Level Security Clearance.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations, including NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, and specifically NFPA 70E.
  • Experience with electrical engineering and technology involving low-voltage AC and DC systems and related applications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer software applications.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to successfully complete Radiological Worker II training.
