Job summary

Koch, a DEPCOM Power employer, is seeking a Subcontract Manager - Civil in Scottsdale, AZ. You will lead civil subcontracting activities within the Subcontracts function, coordinating with project teams and engineering to develop scopes, evaluate bids, and negotiate terms.

You will own relationships with civil subcontractors, manage change orders, and provide market intelligence on capacity and pricing while ensuring compliant, value-driven outcomes across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• Civil construction experience gained with a civil contractor, as a subcontracts manager at an EPC, or in construction management/field engineering at an EPC.
• Experience negotiating commercial terms, pricing or change orders directly with contractors or suppliers.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate civil scopes of work and identify gaps before award.
• Evaluate subcontractor bids, pricing and execution capability, and provide award recommendations to Project Management.
• Lead commercial negotiations with civil subcontractors on scope, terms, pricing and change orders against the project estimate.
• Own and develop DEPCOM's relationships with civil subcontractors, serving as their primary contact across the portfolio.
• Identify and qualify new civil contractors and maintain a capable, resilient partner base.
• Monitor work concentration across the civil partner base.
• Support Project Management on subcontract versus self-perform strategy.
• Provide market intelligence on civil contractor capability, capacity and pricing.
• Escalate higher-risk commercial and contractual matters to the Director of Subcontracts

Job description

DEPCOM Power is seeking a Subcontract Manager - Civil scope. This is a discipline role covering civil subcontracting across our portfolio, from scope development and bid evaluation through negotiation and change management. Located in Scottsdale, AZ, this position is not eligible for Visa Sponsorship.

Our Team

You will join DEPCOM's Subcontracts function within Supply Chain, reporting to the Director of Subcontracts, and work daily with Project Managers, Field Operations Managers, Bidding & Estimating and Engineering. You will be one of a small group of discipline managers covering civil, mechanical and electrical, each responsible for their trade across the portfolio.

What You Will Do

• Develop and evaluate civil scopes of work and identify gaps before award

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience in civil construction gained with a civil contractor, as a subcontracts manager at an EPC, or in construction management, field engineering or project engineering at an EPC
• Experience negotiating commercial terms, pricing or change orders directly with contractors or suppliers
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
• Experience developing or evaluating scopes of work and pricing for civil construction

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Qualifications)

• Utility-scale solar or heavy civil construction experience
• Demonstrated success building and maintaining long-term contractor or supplier relationships
• Working knowledge of geotechnical reports and site conditions affecting means and methods, including soils, topography, seasonality and cut and fill
• Familiarity with BMPs, stormwater and environmental compliance requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Business or a related field
