Job Function
- Assist the Head or Group Teacher in carrying out activities that ensure the classroom meets Head Start Performance Standards and New Jersey Licensing Regulations.
Essential Functions
- Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities, interacting with children appropriately, and developing individualized plans.
- Assist in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development.
- Help with administrative duties delegated by the teacher.
- Assume teacher responsibilities in their absence.
- Maintain records such as attendance and in-kind contributions, submitting reports monthly.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and workshops.
- Encourage parent and volunteer involvement, participate in home visits and conferences, and coordinate volunteer programs.
- Perform any other Head Start tasks as delegated.
Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) or enrollment in CDA or early childhood coursework leading to an associate or bachelor degree.
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Daily access to a car.
- Ability to read and write sufficiently for record-keeping.
