Job summary

Worth School District 127 is seeking a SUB Custodian - Part-time to maintain a clean, safe environment across our schools. You will report to Facilities and Grounds Director and work during assigned shifts to support students, staff and the community.

Duties include general cleaning, mopping, dusting, restocking supplies, securing the building, assisting with materials delivery, and maintaining confidentiality. A High School Diploma is required.

Responsibilities

• General cleaning of offices, washrooms, corridors, classrooms and grounds in area assigned.
• Dust mops, wet mops, vacuums, scrubs, and shampoos floors, carpets and floor mats as directed.
• Check exit doors and panic bolts during occupancy to ensure building security.
• Dust, wash and repair furniture and furnishings as directed.
• Dust sills, ledges, and lockers; clean windows, doors and display cases as needed.
• Clean and wash chalkboards, erasers, and sharpeners; wash P.E. mats as needed.
• Sanitize drinking fountains, lavatories, urinals, toilets and fixtures daily.
• Fill soap, towel, and toilet tissue dispensers; empty and sanitize trash containers.
• Clean and sanitize telephones; report malfunctions to Building Principal.
• Secure the building before leaving; assist with setup for activities and materials delivery.
• Maintain confidentiality of district and school information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. The primary function of the custodian is to maintain a clean, safe environment at our schools for the students, staff and community of Worth School District 127. B. Reports to assigned building Administrator and Director of Building and Grounds. C. Responsibilities:

• General Cleaning - Cleans all offices, washrooms, corridors, classrooms and grounds in area assigned.
• Dust mops, wet mops, vacuums, scrubs, and shampoos floors, carpets and floor mats as directed.
• Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy in accordance with building security procedures.
• Dusts, washes and repairs furniture (tables, chairs, desks and furnishings) as directed.
• Dusts sills, ledges, and lockers.
• Spot cleans walls, washes windows, doors, kick plates, doorframes, and display cases, and glass as needed.
• Cleans and washes chalkboard, erasers, and checks pencil sharpeners.
• Washes and sanitizes P.E. mats as needed.
• Cleans and sanitizes drinking fountains, lavatories, urinals, toilet bowls, and fixtures daily.
• Cleans and fills soap dispensers, towel dispensers, and toilet tissue dispensers as needed.
• Empties, cleans and sanitizes trash containers.
• Cleans and sanitizes telephones.
• Makes all minor replacements & repairs and reports any malfunctions to the Building Principal.
• Secures the building before leaving at the end of his/her shift.
• Regularly checks on all activities within the building.
• Sets up and takes down all equipment required for activities assigned to the building during his/her shift.
• Cleans up after all activities during his/her shift.
• Cares for lawns and walks and removes snow and ice.
• Assists with unloading and delivery of all school materials.
• Maintains confidentiality of district and school information.
• Performs all duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and Director of Building.
