Summary of the position:
To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, work, play and develop.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Ability to plan and organize.
- Skills in human relations.
- Demonstrates aptitude for cleaning, minor mechanical repair and good habits.
- Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
- Performs painting duties as required.
- Shovels, plows, and salts walk, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
- Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
- Raises the United States flag at or before 8:00 A.M. each school day, and lower it at or after 3:30 P.M. (This is determined by the Principal)
- Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
- Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when conditions require it.
- Scrubs, wet mops, and disinfect restroom floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
- Washes all windows on both the inside and the outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
- Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.
- Performs yard-keeping chores such as grass cutting and tree trimming to maintain a safe and attractive school environment.
- Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in good repair.
- Cleans all chalkboards at least once a week.
- Makes minor building repairs as capable.
- Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Principal.
- Maintains mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis.
- Reports damage to school property immediately.
- Remains on school premises during school hours and during authorized non-school hours when required.
- Handles opening and closing of the building, ensuring all doors and windows are secured and lights are turned off.
- Keeps an inventory of supplies and requisitions replacements as needed.
- Conducts ongoing maintenance, upkeep, and repairs.
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required.
- Follows local laws for storage and disposal of waste, paints, fuels, etc.
- Responsible for the safe condition of the swimming pool, including water tests and refilling.
- Inspects electrical installations periodically for safety.
- Performs emergency clean-ups as needed.
- Sweeps, mops, washes, and vacuums floors.
- Assists in monitoring student discipline as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal.
