Job summary

Goshen Engineering, an Eastern North Carolina manufacturer, is seeking a hands-on Sub Assembly Supervisor to lead the Sub Assembly team within Production and ensure safe, efficient, and quality-focused completion of subassembly work. You will report to the Production Manager and coordinate staffing, material availability, and workflow to meet drawings and schedules.

This role requires strong leadership, ability to read drawings, and collaboration with multiple internal teams to resolve

• Experience in manufacturing, subassembly, electrical assembly, industrial assembly, or a related production environment.
• Ability to read and work from production drawings, instructions, specifications, and measurements and use measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools.
• Strong leadership and team-development capability, including direction, coaching, training, performance feedback, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and coordinate Sub Assembly Technician I-III employees within the Sub Assembly subdepartment.
• Plan and assign daily subassembly work, staffing, and priorities based on production schedules and material availability.
• Review production drawings, work instructions, specifications, measurements, and material requirements to ensure teams have the information and tools needed.
• Monitor progress for workmanship, quality, and schedule performance; identify delays and bottlenecks and take action.
• Ensure quality checks are performed and documented and address defects or material issues.
• Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, training, and accountability to develop Sub Assembly Technician I-III.

About the Role

Goshen Engineering is seeking a hands-on Sub Assembly Supervisor to directly supervise the Sub Assembly team within Production and support the safe, efficient, and quality-focused completion of subassembly work. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role leads Sub Assembly Technician I-III employees and coordinates staffing, workflow, materials, quality, training, and production priorities so completed subassemblies meet approved drawings, documentation, schedule, and downstream production requirements.

What You'll Do

• Directly supervise and coordinate the work of Sub Assembly Technician I-III employees within the Sub Assembly subdepartment.
• Plan and assign daily subassembly work, staffing, and priorities based on production schedules, employee capabilities, material availability, and delivery requirements.
• Review production drawings, work instructions, specifications, measurements, and material requirements and ensure employees have the information, tools, equipment, and resources needed to complete assigned work.
• Monitor subassembly work and production progress for workmanship, fit, alignment, quality, documentation, and schedule performance; identify delays, bottlenecks, or resource needs and take appropriate action or elevate as needed.
• Ensure required quality checks are performed and documented and address or communicate defects, deviations, rework needs, missing information, and material issues identified during subassembly work.
• Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, training, performance feedback, and accountability and support employee development through the Sub Assembly Technician I-III career structure.
• Coordinate with Production Management, Electrical Assembly, Control Wiring, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and other functions to resolve production issues and ensure drawings, materials, tools, and information are available to support scheduled work.
• Address subassembly, fit, alignment, tooling, material, quality, documentation, and workflow issues within assigned authority and elevate matters requiring additional technical or operational support.
• Ensure assigned work areas, tools, equipment, materials, and production information are organized and available to support safe and efficient work.
• Support safe work practices, efficient production methods, quality improvement, lean manufacturing, process standardization, and continuous learning within the assigned team.
• Maintain and support required production, quality, inspection, training, and work records and applicable business systems.
• Perform hands-on subassembly or related production support as needed to address workflow, training, quality, or schedule requirements.

What You'll Bring

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in manufacturing, subassembly, electrical assembly, industrial assembly, or a related production environment.
• Ability to read and work from production drawings, instructions, specifications, and measurements and use measuring devices, hand tools, and power tools appropriate to assigned work.
• Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting, communication, and ability to follow approved processes and documentation requirements.
• Ability to provide direction to employees, coordinate multiple priorities, and monitor production performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work effectively with Production, Engineering, Quality, Materials, Control Wiring, Electrical Assembly, and other internal personnel.
• Strong leadership and team-development capability, including direction, coaching, training, performance feedback, and accountability.
• Ability to coordinate staffing, work assignments, priorities, materials, tools, and resources and resolve or elevate subassembly, fit, alignment, material, quality, documentation, and workflow issues.
• Regular on-site physical presence is required; ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, push, pull, grasp, perform repetitive movements, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and safely use computers, office equipment, tools, machinery, testing equipment, and measuring devices required for assigned duties.
• Ability to safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, cranes, trailers, and other vehicles or heavy equipment required for assigned duties, when applicable. Additional hours, weekend work, or customer-site travel may be required based on production, project, customer, or other business needs.

• Prior experience supervising or leading production, subassembly, electrical assembly, or manufacturing employees.
• Experience with subassembly work, electrical equipment, integrated electrical systems, or related manufacturing processes.
• Experience with documented quality checks, production records, employee training, and process-improvement activities.
