The stylist-in-training at Supercuts is a temporary 90-day position designed to integrate an unlicensed, future stylist into the salon workplace and help them learn the business. It is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and effective communication with management, customers, and co-workers.
Promotion to Stylist
The stylist-in-training may be eligible for promotion to a stylist position after obtaining their license. Promotion is not automatic; the candidate must:
- Possess a valid license in their applicable state
- Be able to perform licensed duties such as cutting, styling, coloring, waxing, washing, and perming
- Demonstrate adherence to Regis values of honesty, accountability, integrity, and respect
Qualifications
- Enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited cosmetology school, obtaining necessary licenses within 90 days of hire
- Ability to work in a dynamic salon environment
- Good time management, judgment, and multi-tasking skills
- Interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with customers, co-workers, and management
- Computer knowledge including point-of-sale systems
- Flexible schedule including nights and weekends
Essential Functions
Market and Grow the Business
- Promote and sell services and products, including recommending additional services and retail items
- Understand and communicate pricing
- Coordinate promotional displays using ShopTalk
- Sell to walk-in retail customers
Provide Customer Service
- Greet customers professionally, escort them, and give salon tours as needed
- Estimate wait times and answer calls professionally
- Handle complaints and refer issues to management
Manage Expenses
- Follow salon schedules
- Charge accurately for services and products, including discounts
- Safeguard assets per policies
Administrative Tasks & Compliance
- Assist with salon operations: answering phones, stocking, sweeping, etc.
- Communicate professionally and maintain safety standards
- Attend mandatory meetings and training
- Handle POS transactions
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Frequent lifting up to 10 lbs., occasional 10-25 lbs.
- Continuous standing and reaching
- Occasional pushing, pulling, climbing
- Exposure to chemicals and fragrances
- Ability to communicate and read/write basic forms
- Occasional travel for training and meetings
