Job summary

The University of Michigan's Science Learning Center (SLC) is hiring a collaborative, innovative Study Group Program Manager to help lead one of the nation's largest peer-led academic support programs. You will recruit, train, and mentor facilitators; design active-learning experiences; and partner with faculty to support student success in high-enrollment introductory science courses.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of higher education experience supervising staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of student information.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise about 125 of the program's roughly 250 undergraduate study group facilitators and course leaders.
  • Design surveys, rubrics, and evaluation tools to assess program effectiveness.
  • Lead monthly active-learning workshops for facilitators and course leaders on collaborative learning and research-based strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with STEM faculty; share program outcomes and align practices with courses.
  • Manage a competitive annual application process and select 125–175 hires per year.
  • Support SLC-wide initiatives and cross-departmental projects.
