Job summary

Southeast Missouri State University is seeking an Assistant Director - Study Abroad in Cape Girardeau, MO. This full-time role oversees all study abroad activities, advising students, marketing, and compliance, with a focus on intercultural learning and leadership across IES.

The candidate will manage the Via TRM system, coordinate outbound/inbound processes, and ensure immigration documentation compliance, reporting to the Executive Director of IES.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree required.
• Minimum 3 years in higher education international education or study abroad.
• Experience living and/or studying abroad.
• U.S. citizen or permanent resident eligible to serve as DSO/ARO for SEVIS.
• Strong technical proficiency with multiple software platforms.
• Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
• Experience and comfort with public speaking.
• Willing to travel internationally and domestically.
• Able to work occasional nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage SEMO's study abroad programs and mentors.
• Develop outreach, marketing, events, and updated web content.
• Administer Via TRM study abroad system and automate communications.
• Oversee outbound/inbound documentation and insurance enrollments.
• Align policies with institutional standards and improve procedures.
• Develop a risk management process for emergencies.
• Create co-curricular elements to boost career readiness.
• Assist faculty with faculty-led study abroad initiatives.
• Manage exchange agreements and inbound nomination processes.
• Serve as DSO and Alternate Responsible Officer.
