Job summary

Meany Center for the Performing Arts in Seattle seeks a Lead Stage Technician (Stage Technician 2) to support Studio Theatre productions. You will be the on-site lead, coordinating with UW academic partners and venue departments to ensure safe, smooth performances.

The role requires knowledge of black box systems, load-ins, repairs, and ongoing maintenance, with evening and weekend shifts. You will collaborate with the Technical Director and student crews, building hands-on theater expertise and

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years as Stage Technician 1 in a performing arts facility or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with show prep, run of show, and leading stage crews.
  • Knowledge of typical theatrical systems including lighting and sound.
  • Familiarity with stage management, rigging, video and carpentry is a plus.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED certification required after hire.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends and maintain schedules in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic administrative Tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site technician during all Studio Theatre performances.
  • Serve as liaison between academic partners, artists, and Meany Center as a venue.
  • Support student crews during rehearsals and performances.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot lighting, sound, video, and related systems.
  • Coordinate load-in/load-out and establish production timelines.
  • Track purchases and assist with department admin duties as needed.
