Location: Houston, TX | In-Studio Position | One Day per Week | Must Have Own Transportation

Seeking a capable, hands-on studio assistant to support the practical side of a working artist’s daily studio life. This is an in-person role requiring dexterity, organization, and initiative — someone who can step into a creative space and contribute without needing close instruction.

You'll be part of a dynamic fine art studio, assisting with making, maintenance, and logistics. Ideal for someone with technical skills, good instincts, and a calm, reliable presence.

Compensation: $18/hour, one day per week to start, with potential for more based on fit and studio needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare studio for work: organize tools and materials, clean surfaces, assist with daily setup/cleanup
• Prep surfaces: stretch canvases, apply gesso or oil ground, tape off areas, mix pigments
• Assist with underpainting, paint mixing, and basic studio tasks
• Pack and handle artworks with care (some lifting required)
• Document work and assist with photography or video (basic camera or phone skills welcome)
• Maintain studio inventory and supplies
• Occasional local errands (framing pickup, hardware run, post office, etc.)

You are:

• Practical, precise, and enjoy working with your hands
• Comfortable using basic tools (screwdriver, pliers, drill, staple gun)
• Proficient in stretching canvases and preparing surfaces for painting
• Used to handling both paper and canvas artworks carefully and appropriately
• Able to safely pack artworks for shipping, following professional standards
• Able to take initiative, problem-solve, and follow directions with minimal oversight
• Comfortable in a busy, evolving environment with a variety of hands-on tasks
• Interested in art, design, or craft — but not necessarily seeking creative input in this role
• Respectful of materials, deadlines, and studio confidentiality
• Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs and stand or move around for most of the day
• Based in Houston and have your own reliable transportation
