Job summary

The University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point is seeking a Pathways Intern to support the day-to-day upkeep of art studios, including woodshop, metal shop, and digital fabrication lab.

You will assist the Safety and Studio Coordinator in developing training programs and signage to introduce students to safe and effective use of shop equipment, and work on special projects such as furniture fabrication and equipment repair. Strong organizational and communication skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in student employment or studio settings is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain various art studios, including woodshop, welding, ceramics, photography, printmaking, and painting.
• Design and complete studio development projects as assigned.
• Aid in the design and implementation of a new training systems and signage to introduce students to safe usage of shop equipment.
• Assist in the maintenance of studio equipment.
• Maintain a database of chemicals and materials used, with emphasis on safe usage and storage.
• Train fellow students on proper usage of studio equipment.
• Supervise fellow students’ usage of equipment to ensure safe practices.
• Oversee cleaning of studio spaces.
