Job summary

KTLA is seeking a Part-time Production Lighting Board & Teleprompter Operator / Grip to join the PRODUCTION department. You will program, operate and maintain studio lighting, run the teleprompter, and support stage and prop operations during live broadcasts.

Ideal candidates have 5–7 years of lighting experience in a major market, leadership ability, and solid knowledge of newsroom processes. This role requires flexibility for mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays on-site.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years lighting experience in a major market.
• Experience leading lighting and teleprompter operation.
• Good organization and communication skills.
• Familiarity with newsroom operations and production processes.
• Proficient with a range of lighting instruments and PC-based consoles (ETC ION).
• Knowledge of news operating systems (ENPS a plus).
• Microsoft Office/Outlook skills.

Responsibilities

• Program, operate, maintain, and execute studio lighting production.
• Operate lighting control console and program lighting cues.
• Install, hang, focus, and wire lighting equipment.
• Experience with teleprompter systems and news production systems.
• Perform lighting cue checks before and after shows and adjust as required.
• Replace, adjust, and fix studio lighting fixtures.
• Oversee lighting maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain safe workspace, storage, inventory, and set maintenance.
• Coordinate with Stage Management to maintain stage marks.
• Assist in props/grip functions on live broadcasts.
• Contribute to high-quality broadcast presentation through professional lighting design.
