Job summary

One River School of Art + Design in New Jersey seeks a part-time instructor to teach art and digital design to motivated adult students, joining a community of practicing artists.

You will lead weekly classes, contribute to lesson plans, help students exhibit work in January and June, and enjoy paid onboarding, training, and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master’s a plus) or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years teaching visual arts for adults and advanced teens; digital art skills a plus.
• Track record of high-quality instruction and student progress.
• Clear communicator, organized, and energized by a busy studio environment.
• Availability on Saturdays, Sundays, and weekday evenings.

Responsibilities

• Teach Art and/or Digital Design Classes for adults of all levels using a wide variety of media.
• Ensure student success in the studio by observing and documenting progress and opportunities for growth.
• Implement the One River Methodology Curriculum and contribute to lesson plan development.
• Run a best-in-class studio by keeping spaces and artwork organized and maintaining digital lab upkeep.
• Direct students to produce high-quality work for exhibitions in January and June, tracking progress to meet deadlines.

What you’ll do:

• Teach Art and / or Digital Design Classes:Teach weeklymuseum quality artand / or digital art classes for adults of all levels and using a wide variety of media
• Ensure Student Success:Ensure student success in the studio and lab by actively engaging with students and teachers to observe, document and communicate their progress and opportunities for growth
• Implement One River Methodology Curriculum:Implement the One River Method through each class effectively. All teachers have the opportunity to contribute to lesson plan development and are paid extra for doing so
• Run a best-in-class studio:Clean and organize studio spaces and student artwork and / or oversee digital lab maintenance
• Student Exhibitions:Direct your students to produce high quality work for their exhibitions in January and June. Keep track of their progress to ensure the exhibition work is completed on time for each show.

Requirements:

• BA/BS in Visual Art, Art Education or Design (Master’s a plus)orequivalent professional experience
• 5+ years experience teaching visual arts for adults and advanced teens studio classes. Digital art skills (Adobe Suite and Procreate knowledge) are a plus.
• Track record of high-quality instruction, classroom management, and student progress.
• Clear communicator, organized, and energized by a busy studio environment
• Passion for art history, contemporary art and a "students-first" mindset
• Availability on Saturdays and Sundays and weekday evenings.

Schedule & Compensation:

• This is a Part time Position with evening and weekend teaching hours
• Hourly rate:$25.00-$35.00 per hour commensurate with experience
