Job summary

North Orange County Community College District seeks an Art Instructor to teach foundation drawing and related studio art courses at Cypress College for the Spring 2027 semester. The position supports the Studio Art transfer pathway and serves a diverse student population with varied backgrounds and experience.

The successful candidate will develop engaging curricula, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate with the Art Department on program planning, assessment, and department activities

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include MFA in fine arts or related field; or BA with MFA in humanities.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity and equity in teaching.
• Ability to develop and assess curriculum for Studio Art transfer pathway.

Responsibilities

• Teach foundation drawing-related courses (Drawing, 2D Design, Watercolor, Painting, Illustration, Digital Art).
• Develop engaging, well-structured curricula to build technical skills and visual literacy.
• Provide feedback through critiques, demonstrations, and one-on-one instruction.
• Collaborate with Art Department on curriculum development and program planning.
• Support student transfer to four-year institutions or creative careers.
• Maintain regular office hours and participate in department meetings.
