Job summary

North Orange County Community College District’s Cypress College invites applications for an Art Instructor (Temporary One Semester) to teach foundational drawing and related studio art courses in Spring 2027, supporting the Studio Art transfer degree and a diverse student population.

The ideal candidate will develop engaging curricula, provide constructive critiques, and mentor students toward strong portfolios while fostering inclusive, rigorous learning.

Qualifications

• Master's in fine arts, art, or art history.
• Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in humanities.
• Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
• Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and experience as determined by the Equivalency Committee.

Responsibilities

• Teach foundation drawing-related courses, such as Drawing, 2D Design, Watercolor, Painting, Illustration, and/or Digital Art, for the Studio Art transfer degree.
• Develop and deliver engaging curricula that build students' technical skills and conceptual understanding.
• Provide students with constructive feedback through critiques and one-on-one instruction to develop portfolios.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment while maintaining high academic standards.
• Collaborate with Art Department colleagues on curriculum development and program planning.

Education

Master's in fine arts, art, or art history

Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in humanities
