Job summary

Serrato Corporation seeks a dependable maintenance professional in Detroit to monitor, supervise, and assist student facility maintenance staff while performing essential duties to keep the facility well maintained.

Responsibilities include general maintenance, minor repairs, electrical and plumbing tasks, painting, and preventative maintenance. A High School Diploma and Valid State Driver's License are required, with 1–2 years related experience.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
  • Basic computer functions, email, internet, and common programs
  • Knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscaping, painting, and related trades
  • Experience using trade-related hand and power tools
  • Attention to detail in building maintenance

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Complete minor repairs such as patching holes and painting.
  • Repair electrical receptacles, wires, switches, and fixtures.
  • Complete minor plumbing repairs (sinks, water coolers, toilets, showers).
  • Paint as needed for touch ups after repairs.
  • Complete work order documentation.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and update logs.
  • Hang and repair doors; install locks.
  • Replace broken windowpanes; maintain equipment and machinery.
  • Perform maintenance on heating/cooling units (pumps, motors, parts).
  • Assist with grounds maintenance (fertilizers, weed control).
  • Maintain a safe and healthful work environment.

Job description

Primary Position Objectives

Monitor, supervise and instruct student facility maintenance staff, while performing all required job duties to ensure our facility is well maintained.

Brief Description of Duties
  • Performs maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.
  • Completes minor repairs such as patching holes and painting.
  • Repairs electrical receptacles, wires, switches, and fixtures.
  • Completes minor plumbing repairs such as replacement of sinks, water coolers, toilets, showers, and other plumbing items.
  • Paint as needed for touch up and after repairs.
  • Completes work order forms.
  • Performs preventative maintenance activities and updates related logs.
  • Hangs and repairs doors and installs locks.
  • Replaces broken windowpanes.
  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Performs general maintenance and repairs to heating and cooling units such as replacing pumps, motors, and minor parts, as needed.
  • Assists with grounds maintenance by applying fertilizers and weed killers.
  • Maintains a safe and healthful work environment at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and’or ability required.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge crafts skills such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, landscaping, painting, ect..
  • Knowledge in the use of trade-related hand and power tools.
  • Attention to detail in building maintenance.
Experience

Minimum of one to two years' experience in building maintenance.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Valid State Driver's License
