Job summary

Student Worker - Campus Ministry (Work-Study)

Job Description

A Campus Ministry Student Worker & Leader is first-and-foremost a representative of the office, both in the space and all-around campus. The title “Leader” is included in this job title because we desire to invest in you during your time with us. This position offers opportunity to grow professionally in an office setting, but also spiritually in an environment rooted in Catholic tradition, but open and welcoming to people of all faith backgrounds. Our hope is that you come to know what it means to be respected and held in a position of moral authority, while growing into the person you are called to be. You will report directly to the Assistant director of Campus Ministry.
You will report directly to the Campus Minister for Formation and Leadership, but work may be assigned by any Campus Ministry staff member.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Exhibit a Christian standard of hospitality and care to all, as you will be the first face to all visitors entering and spending time in our space.
  • Good communication skills via email, phone, and text.
  • Confidence in using office equipment (phone, printer, etc.) and willingness to learn and assist others who may need help in using any shared equipment that is held in the office space.
  • Thorough understanding of the office’s inventory and supplies, as you will need to help prepare materials for advertising, aid in the maintenance and organization of the space for best utilization and assist in the set-up and break-down of events.
  • Run errands for the office around campus, which may include retrieving packages/mail, picking up print jobs, and distributing flyers.
  • Stay up to date with the office roles, groups, and events, so you can provide helpful answers to visitors’ questions.
  • Be able to generate appropriate advertisements for events.
  • Ability to help plan various events through the Center for Campus Ministry for the broader campus.
  • Ability to collaborate well with other offices across campus.
  • Ability to maintain professional behavior and appearance. The Center for Campus Ministry office has a business casual dress code, but student workers may dress in casual attire. This does not include athleisure or pajamas. Read this article for helpful tips on business attire.
  • Work diligently on routine tasks and office upkeep, so that you are available for and capable of taking on special requests to aid office staff and administration in their day-to-day tasks.
  • Be friendly, outgoing, and open-minded to all people and their faiths while bringing your own individuality to the team’s skill set and office culture.
  • A vehicle is preferred but not required, to run various errands off campus.
Salary and Hours
  • Students are paid the current minimum wage for Maryland.
  • Students will work a total of eight (8) hours per week.
