Job summary

Regent University seeks Academic Coaches to help students strengthen writing, reading, and study skills. Sessions occur one-on-one via video, phone, or in-person where available.

Responsibilities include drop-in hours, group coaching, and administrative support, plus monthly team trainings. Bachelor’s degree preferred; strong writing skills encouraged in undergraduates. Not eligible for benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; undergraduate students with strong writing skills encouraged to apply.
  • Completion of ENGL 102 and ENGL 301/501 with a B+ or higher.
  • Strong communication, independent work ability, patience, empathy, and active listening.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Meet is expected.

  • Host drop-in hours and group coaching sessions.
  • Provide administrative support including emails, calls, scheduling, and resource creation.

Job description

Academic Coaches help Regent students become stronger self-learners by developing their writing, reading, and study skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Regent undergraduate through doctoral students with their writing, reading, & study skills in one-on-one sessionsover video, phone, and in-person (if applicable)
  • Host drop-in hours and groupcoachingsessions
  • Provide administrative support, including emails, phone calls, appointment scheduling, and resource creation (if applicable)
  • Participate in team-wide trainings and meetings (e.g. monthly virtual staff meeting)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred - Undergraduate students with strong writing skills are still encouraged to apply
  • Completion of ENGL 102 and ENGL 301/501 with a B+ or higher
  • Strong communication skills, expertise in research-based writing, ability to work independently, and willingness to serve others
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, kindness, and active listening
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Google Meets

Salary: $14.00 per hour
