Job Title: Student EmployeeDepartment: Auxiliary ServicesSupervisor: Levi ClymerEmployment Type: Work Study or Work Program; Part-time, hourly, non-exemptPay Range: $13.00 - $13.00Job Summary:The Conferences & Events Assistant position supports the daily tasks necessary for the smooth operation of conferences and events on campus. This role includes, but is not limited to, preparing residence halls, assisting with event setups, managing key inventory, and ensuring conference and events guests have a positive experience. Workers are assigned tasks each day and are expected to complete them efficiently and professionally.Duties/Responsibilities:Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.Answer incoming phone calls.Perform a variety of administrative and/or office duties.Provide assistance and support to faculty and/or staff in completing special projects as assigned.Perform general administrative responsibilities in support of the department/office/campus.Complete department-specific projects as assigned.Attends to the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.Supports the values of the University.Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.Position Specific Duties/Responsibilities:Assisting with setup and coordination of various external and internal events at EMU throughout the school year.Organizing files and communicating with clients as assigned.Providing support to custodial and facility tasks as assigned or needed at, near, or after events.Some duties may require lifting items up to 50 pounds during setup before and breakdown after events.Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to make entry-level decisions.Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.Willingness to ask questions.Understand basic department procedures.Ability to maintain a level of professionalism during working hours.Has a genuine desire to help their peers succeed.Be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at EMU.Education and Experience:High School diploma.Physical Requirements:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance and climb ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
