Job summary

East Central Ohio Educational Service Center – Student Wellness is seeking a school based Prevention Specialist to work in Monroe County Schools. This full-time role runs mid-August through early June and focuses on mental health promotion and substance abuse prevention for students and families.

Responsibilities include developing programs, providing early intervention, referrals to resources, and contributing to teacher professional development.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, community health, sociology, psychology or related human services field.
• Must currently be certified as a Prevention Specialist or willing to begin certification after hire.
• Must be drug-free and adhere to Drug-free Workplace policy.
• FBI and BCI background check required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, develop and implement mental health promotion and substance abuse prevention programs for youth.
• Provide early intervention/student support services to students and their families.
• Refer students and families to school and community resources as needed.
• Participate in community-based activities and committees.
• Attend workshops and trainings to obtain or maintain state prevention certification.
• Provide teacher In-Service/professional development as needed.
