Job summary

Esperanza Cyber Charter School, located in North Philadelphia, is seeking a mission-driven Guidance Counselor to join the Main Office. The role focuses on student social-emotional support, crisis response, and collaboration with families and staff to promote safe, engaged learning in a cyber-enabled environment.

The ideal candidate holds a State Teaching certificate in School Counseling, bilingual Spanish/English preferred, and urban-school experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree in Education or School Counseling
• PA teaching certificate: School or Guidance Counselor
• Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
• Minimum of two years of experience in an urban setting with high percentages of ELD and SPED students
• Best practices for online teaching and learning and digital curriculum development
• Ability to communicate well in a group/team environment
• Ability to craft well-written, data-rich reports
• Able to build relationships with students and families

Responsibilities

• Provide social-emotional, behavioral counseling and supportive services to students
• Develop supportive relationships with students and serve as a trusted adult and advocate
• Identify students experiencing emotional distress, trauma, or barriers to school engagement
• Conduct wellness check-ins and assessments and assist with coping skills
• Refer to appropriate school-based or community services when needed
• Maintain confidential records of student interventions and contacts
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and support personnel to implement interventions
• Support development and implementation of student support plans when appropriate
