Eligibility

Open to all current FVCC Students enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester - Must have Instructor recommendation

Start Date

This position will start Fall Semester 2026

Length of Employment

Academic Calendar Year 2026/2027

Work Schedule

Flexible schedule between Monday and Saturday. This position may work up to 19 hours per week.

Dress Code

Business casual wear with appropriate coverage

Position Purpose/Role

Under minimum supervision, provides academic tutoring to support student success

Position Duties
  • Provides individual and group academic tutoring to students;
  • Assists students with study skill;
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining accurate documentation relating to tutoring; documentation must be completed within required time period; and
  • May perform other like duties.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester;
  • Must have a B grade or higher in the course offering tutor support;
  • Must have content competency (as determined by instructor);
  • Must possess academic integrity; and
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate professionalism and strong customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous tutoring experience
  • Availability to tutor for the academic year
  • Group leadership experience

Student Employment Guidelines
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
