Job summary

Alief Independent School District Transportation Department in Houston offers a 2026-2027 Bus Attendant position to support safe student transportation and daily operations.

You will supervise students boarding/exiting buses, assist with safety equipment, and follow district procedures while adapting to individual student needs.

This role requires physical readiness, ability to lift, and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions. Training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, drivers, parents, and teachers.
• Willing to work with differently-abled students and understand their needs.
• Ability to perform physical labor or operate equipment.
• Must pass a Physical Performance Evaluation.
• Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions.
• Ability to operate safety equipment and adaptive equipment.
• Ability to manage student behavior.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students as they board and exit the bus.
• Learn and adapt to each student’s individual medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needs.
• Know special equipment available and ensure on-board equipment is secured.
• Manage student behavior and report discipline problems to the administrator.
• Maintain civil relations with parents, guardians, patrons and district personnel.
• Escort students into the building and deliver them to their destination.
• Assist in loading and unloading students and securing them as needed to maximize safety.
• Follow emergency procedures including evacuation and assist the driver as necessary.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and follow district procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned
