Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools seeks a transportation driver responsible for safely transporting school-aged children and authorized personnel in non-school-bus vehicles to and from schools and events.

Duties include daily pre-trip inspections, reporting deficiencies, maintaining safety equipment, adhering to maintenance schedules, and ensuring passengers are accounted for and safe.

Qualifications

• Must possess knowledge of safety procedures governing safe operation of motor vehicles.
• Ability to operate a vehicle safely and follow a defined schedule.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, parents, and students.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily pre-trip safety inspections of the vehicle.
• Report operating and equipment deficiencies; maintain safety equipment.
• Adhere to preventive maintenance schedule and complete required forms.
• Ensure passenger safety and account for all pupils on routes.
• Notify authorities in case of vehicle breakdown or deviations in schedule.
