Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Submit two references attesting to character and qualifications.
• Meet school bus driver certification requirements (hours and knowledge exam).
• Meet state licensing requirements.
• Meet state physical examination requirements.
• Meet county and state driving test standards.
• Meet county and state driver record check standards.
• Ability to operate all vehicle types used for transporting students.
• Ability to operate radio communication.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip inspection of school bus prior to every trip.
• Use established routes and designated bus stops.
• Operate bus on approved time schedule.
• Report bus accidents and student injuries to authorities.
• Conduct emergency evacuation drills per regulations.
• Instruct riders to be responsible passengers.
• Drive defensively under varying traffic and weather conditions.
• Maintain safety of students as priority.
• Report personal absences timely to secure substitutes.
