Job summary

Springfield School District 19 Transportation is seeking a part‑time Transportation Educational Assistant to support bus and van operations and student supervision. This role works with the driver to ensure safe transportation and ridership, with responsibilities including behavior management, assisting with special needs, and maintaining related records.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, ability to obtain First Aid/CPR and SafeSchools training, and a background clearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain and hold a valid First Aid/CPR card and pass SafeSchools training.
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance required.
• Related experience in an educational setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher/bus/van driver with student management and safety.
• Complete district logs, forms and paperwork as required.
• Assist students with behavioral and personal needs; support self-management.
• Maintain student discipline when the teacher/bus/van driver is absent.
• Provide de-escalation, conflict resolution and adherence to behavioral expectations.
• Assist students with special needs and adaptive equipment.
• Provide support for learning experiences and planned activities.
• Conduct basic data entry and attendance tasks.
