Job summary

University of North Carolina Pembroke is seeking a Motor Pool Bus Driver for the 2025/2026 term to transport students, faculty and staff on pre‑planned routes. The 0.5 FTE position offers 20 hours per week with rotating shifts across 12 months.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; required licenses/certifications to operate assigned vehicles or equipment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid NC Class B Driver's License; ability to pass a bus operation performance test with a clean driving record.
• Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules; ability to operate a bus safely and economically; ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to relate to students, parents and school personnel.

Responsibilities

• Transport students, faculty and staff to and from events following a pre‑planned route and time schedule.
• Regulate heating and ventilation for passenger comfort; drive the bus carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations.
• Ensure the safety of passengers during loading, unloading and transit; maintain discipline and report delays or accidents to the supervisor.
• Keep operational records and complete simple reports; report vehicle defects to the shop supervisor; refuel as necessary.
• Complete various forms and records, including updated route sheets and time sheets.
