Job summary

Mount Pleasant Elementary in Ferguson, NC is seeking a part-time Bus Driver to operate a school bus on assigned routes for approximately 3.5 hours per day. The role includes daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, maintaining student safety, and completing required reports under the supervision of the Transportation Department.

The position requires a high school diploma and a valid NC CDL with school bus certification.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school.
• Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with school bus certification.
• Experience driving large vehicles and transporting people preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs required pre-trip and post-trip inspections and documents inspections as required by Transportation Department instructions for bus drivers.
• Operates the assigned school bus on the route(s) and schedule provided by the Transportation Department.
• Obeys all traffic laws and school bus regulations while operating the school bus.
• Maintains discipline of students assigned to ride the school bus and follows a discipline plan as directed by school administration.
• Reports all accidents and required incidents to Transportation Department staff and remains at the scene until released.
• Secures the bus after a run and ensures windows and doors are secured to protect the interior.
