Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory's Homeland Protection Systems Group seeks a motivated Student Technical Assistant for Fall 2026 in Lexington, MA. This part-time, term-time role runs October–December 2026 with potential extension, requiring about 20 hours per week.

You will support data collection and preprocessing, test real-time ML systems for radar, and develop scripts to deploy ML at scale while presenting findings to a technical audience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a degree program at undergraduate, masters, or PhD level.
• Commitment to approximately 20 hours per week during Fall 2026.
• GPA 3.5+ preferred.
• Experience in C++ and Python.
• Exposure to machine learning, signal processing or data structures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection, analysis and preprocessing.
• Support testing of real-time machine learning systems applied to radar.
• Develop scripts/tools to shorten feedback loops and deploy ML systems at scale.
• Present work to a broad technical audience clearly.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to technical discussions.
