Job summary

USC Upstate's Sustainability Steward student position supports campus-wide sustainability initiatives through hands-on activities and outreach. Responsibilities include recycling programs, social media, event planning, service-learning facilitation, and campus advocacy.

This role offers part-time hours (10/week), $12 per hour, based in Spartanburg, SC, with a flexible schedule Monday–Friday and some evenings/weekends, starting 12/03/2025.

The Sustainability Steward will play a key role in advancing USC Upstate's commitment to environmental sustainability and community engagement. This student position supports campus-wide sustainability initiatives through hands-on activities and outreach efforts. Responsibilities include:

• Recycling Programs: Assist with plastic film recycling and promote proper recycling of plastics and aluminum on campus.
• Social Media & Communications: Create engaging content for sustainability-related social media channels and maintain communication with community partners.
• Event Planning: Help organize and execute special events that promote sustainability awareness and practices.
• Service-Learning Facilitation: Support service-learning projects that connect students with sustainability-focused community initiatives.
• Campus Advocacy: Serve as a champion for sustainability by educating peers, encouraging participation in green programs, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship.

This role is ideal for students passionate about sustainability, community engagement, and creative problem-solving. Strong communication skills, reliability, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
