Job summary

The Student Success and Support Center is seeking an AcademicSupport Services Adjunct Instructor to provide undergraduate academic assistance in STEM disciplines, including courses in Mathematics, Engineering, and related fields. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge in STEM disciplines, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering student success.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a STEM field is required and Ph.D preferred.
  • Prior tutoring, teaching, or academic support at the college level is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with a diverse student population.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Job description

Areas of support mayinclude Calculus, Differential Equations, Physics, Thermodynamics,Statics, Dynamics, and other engineering coursework. The idealcandidate will have advanced knowledge in STEM disciplines, stronginterpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering studentsuccess.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one and groupacademic support for undergraduate students in STEM disciplines,including but not limited to:

  • Mathematics (e.g., Calculus, DifferentialEquations)
  • Engineering (e.g. Statics, Dynamics, andThermodynamics)
  • Physics (e.g. Mechanics, Electromagnetic Theory)
  • Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies toaddress diverse learning needs and enhance student understanding ofcourse material.
  • Assist students with problem-solving techniques, exampreparation, and comprehension of theoretical and practicalconcepts
  • Participate in periodic training sessions and professionaldevelopment opportunities to enhance tutoring skills
Qualifications

A master’s degree in a STEM field is required and Ph.Dpreferred

Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or academic support at thecollege level is preferred.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability toeffectively interact with a diverse student population.

Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learningenvironment.

Compensation

Adjunct Contract: $2,500 for 16-week semester

10 hours per week

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy andCampus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges anduniversities, both public and private, participating in federalstudent aid programs to disclose campus safety information, andimposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexualviolence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includesstatistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimesthat occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings orproperty owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on publicproperty within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from,the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported tolocal law enforcement agencies, campus security and other CampusSecurity Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regardingcampus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention andawareness programs; related university procedures and importantguidance; and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts
