Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a school-based SSP for the 2025-2026 year to support students in grades 6-7 during reading intervention blocks. The role reports to the instructional coach or classroom teacher and focuses on academic support opportunities.

The ideal candidate will assist with literacy/ELA, administer tests as needed, and maintain punctual attendance. This is grant-funded and non-exempt, with hours Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Must have a degree OR 60 credit hours from an accredited college OR have taken or will take the ETS Parapro Test and pass.

Responsibilities

• Works with students in grades 6-7 during reading intervention blocks.
• Assists with literacy/ELA support and testing as directed by instructional staff.
• Demonstrates punctual, regular, and consistent attendance.

Hours

Monday - Friday 8:15 AM - 2:30 PM (includes half hour unpaid lunch)

Job Functions

The SSP will be the primary support for students in grades 6-7 setting during the reading intervention block periods each day. The SSP will be working with students on academic support opportunities under the direction of the instructional coach and or classroom teacher.

• Works closely with students who are at-risk, particularly in Literacy/ELA
• Helps test students
• Punctual, regular and consistent attendance required
