Job summary

Wayne Township Public Schools is seeking a Para Professional Instructional (cert) to support students with special needs at John F. Kennedy Elementary School.

The paraprofessional works under certified staff to reinforce instruction, behavior, social skills, and daily living activities, and may assist with clerical tasks. Under supervision, you will reinforce learning goals, support classroom management, and promote student independence.

Qualifications

• 60 college credits or passing ParaPro assessment.

Responsibilities

• Reinforces personal, social, behavioral, and academic learning goals for students.
• Assists with classroom management and provides positive behavioral supports.
• Supports student participation in class activities with prompting, cueing, modeling, and coaching as needed.
• Promotes student independence and helps develop competence and self-confidence.
• Assists staff in maintaining a safe learning environment (lunchrooms, study halls, playgrounds, buses).
• Observes students, provides input, and collects data when required.
• Provides minor clerical assistance to certified staff.
• Accepts field trips and before/after school assignments when available.
• Maintains confidentiality of students at all times.
• Performs other related duties as required.
