Plano ISD seeks an experienced MTSS Lead and Section 504 Coordinator at Hughston Elementary to support student attendance, behavior, and course performance outcomes. The role partners with campus leadership and district services to implement MTSS, PBIS, and RtI initiatives across grades.

The candidate will manage 504 processes, lead Accelerated Instruction efforts, and collaborate on student support plans, data-driven decisions, and district compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • ESL Certification required for pre-k and elementary teachers (not for art/music/PE).

Responsibilities

  • Develop Section 504 plans in compliance with the law.
  • Facilitate Section 504 meetings, initial evaluations, re-evaluations, and reviews.
  • Communicate with campus personnel about 504 plans and student needs.
  • Monitor 504 plan implementation and student progress.
  • Serve as 504 liaison and MTSS facilitator for 504 students.
  • Coordinate College Board SSD coordination with Counseling Department (secondary).
  • Verify and monitor Accelerated Instruction materials and timelines.
  • Lead MTSS initiatives and coordinate Student Support Team referrals.
  • Provide training and support for campus MTSS systems.

Primary Purpose:
  • Provide support at the elementary or secondary level to the campus and students in the areas of Section 504 Coordinator, MTSS Lead, and Accelerated Instruction Lead; work in a liaison role with the building principal, the academic services department, and student support services department to support student attendance, behavior, and course performance outcomes
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate
  • Master's Degree (Preferred)
  • Elementary: ESL Certification is required for pre-k and elementary teachers. *This requirement does not include elementary art, music and physical education teachers
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) including the components of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI)
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations for the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1978, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendment of 2008, and the Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973
  • Knowledge of state and local rules and regulations for Accelerated Instruction
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and use student data for decision making
  • Ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate outcomes of targeted interventions and accommodations for students
Experience:
  • Three years of teaching experience in an elementary, middle, and/or high school (preferred)
  • Experience in a team leader/department head role (preferred)
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
504 Responsibilities:
  • Develop Section 504 plans in compliance with the law
  • Facilitate and conduct Section 504 meetings, to include: initial evaluations for Section 504 referrals, re-evaluations, manifestation determination reviews
  • Communicate with campus personnel about students' Section 504 plans and individual needs
  • Monitor the implementation of Section 504 plans on the campus to ensure compliance and monitoring the progress in attendance, behavior, and course performance of students receiving Section 504 Services
  • Serve as a Section 504 resource, advisor, and liaison for the campus, as well as the primary point of contact for parents in regards to Section 504 implementation concerns and/or questions
  • Serve as the MTSS Facilitator for Section 504 Students
  • Serve as the College Board Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) coordinator in conjunction with the Counseling Department (secondary)
Accelerated Instruction Responsibilities:
  • Verify PEIMS coding accuracy BOY, MOY, EOY & anytime a student withdraws or enrolls
  • Facilitate progress monitoring meetings with campus teams
  • Facilitate conversations with campus teams on materials and resources that will be used during Accelerated Instruction
  • Set a training timeline and attendance verification process for staff members who are providing Accelerated Instruction
  • Monitor parent waivers for small group and Accelerated Instruction
MTSS Responsibilities:
  • Ensure campus Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and the components of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) and Response to Intervention (RtI) align with the district's process and procedures of MTSS implementation.
  • Provide student support indirectly, directly, and/or monitor implementation of Student Support Plans,coordinate Student Support Team referrals with the appropriate MTSS Facilitator
  • Serve as a MTSS resource, advisor, and liaison for the campus leadership team in the development of campus MTSS systems
  • Ensure that all relevant campus personnel are appropriately trained in development of Student Support Plans, progress monitoring Student Support Plans and goals associated with the plans
  • Support classroom teachers in data analysis and progress monitoring
  • Ensure new students participate in district diagnostic assessments such as MAP, CogAT, etc. within 14 days of enrollment (if applicable)
  • Serve as campus liaison for students receiving Hospital/Homebound services
  • Conduct formal and informal campus meetings regarding curricular programs and intervention
