FEDERALLY FUNDED: The salary for this position is paid with federal funds. Federally funded positions are supplemental and therefore subject to federal funds.

ROLE AND PURPOSE: The Instructional Facilitator is responsible for partnering with campus leaders and district leadership as a content and instruction specialist, learning facilitator, data coach, and catalyst for change who facilitates continuous improvement in classroom instruction. The Instructional Facilitator will provide instructional support to instructional coaches and teachers in the elements of research-based instruction and by demonstrating the alignment of instruction with curriculum standards and assessment tools; developing instructional strategies, integrating technology into instruction; individual and group coaching; professional development planning and delivery; and campus implementation support. This collaborative work is further accomplished by working with the Curriculum and Instruction Executive Director, Directors, Coordinators, other C&I Staff, as well as other district departments, to advance the overall District K-12 instructional program.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor's Degree required, master's degree from accredited institution preferred
  • Valid Texas teacher's certificate preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
I. COACHING/ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Represent the district's instructional philosophy in all aspects of the position to include professional development, coaching, and curriculum support
  • Provide targeted feedback to campus instructional coaches related to the district's instructional program and student achievement
  • Provide focused, sustained training that assists teachers in meeting data-driven, collaboratively determined instructional goals in content and program areas
  • Designs and facilitates effective campus-based and districtwide professional learning to support the overall implementation of the curriculum, and effective teaching strategies, including job-embedded coaching, modeling, and demonstration teaching
  • Provide feedback to teachers and campus instructional coaches regarding content and best practice as it relates to instructional delivery
  • Provide content area expertise to improve instructional practices including implementation of the district's learning framework, adopted materials and curriculum
  • Provide guidance and leadership to campus and district staff in the area of state standards, research, and evidence-based instructional practices into the planning and design of instruction
  • Strengthen and deepen content knowledge and coaching skills
II. DATA ANALYSIS (NEEDS ASSESSMENT/ASSESSMENT DECISION MAKING
  • Use data to assist action/improvement plan development
  • Utilize district data to make informed decisions regarding focus and content of professional development
  • Lead data-driven instruction meetings with instructional coaches and/or teachers
  • Facilitate a variety of formative assessment methods for data-driven instruction
III. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT/INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT
  • Facilitate use of research-based content resources
  • Collaborate with others from academic services to develop and support curriculum implementation
  • Utilize strategies to include, but not limited to, instructional models, resources, and coaching to deepen instructional practices that support teaching and learning
  • Assists department in designing, developing, implementing and evaluating new instructional resources, tools, and supplemental materials
  • Perform all duties as assigned, as it relates to Title I, Part A grant at 100% compliance
IV. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
  • Promote a positive image of the district and maintain a positive working relationship with all stakeholders
  • Promote equity of practice
  • Adhere to confidentiality laws in the conduct of district business
  • Attends and participates in Academic Services, department, and other meetings and committees as required
  • Displays high visibility and effective communication skills on campuses to support, monitor, and observe curriculum delivery, instructional practices, and professional learning implementation

  • Participates as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals, and collaborates with district departments and other Curriculum and Instruction staff
V. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
  • Assist in building a common vision for school improvement
  • Identify, analyze and apply research-based strategies to facilitate school improvement
  • Demonstrates success in improving student achievement as measured by local and state assessment results and other district performance criteria.
  • Provides accommodation and modifications for diverse student needs.
  • Work in partnership with the Division of Curriculum and Instruction, district departments, and other district staff to review and analyze multiple sources and types of educator and student data to identify educator-learning needs for improved student performance, and to inform curricular/instructional decisions
  • Engage district and campus staff to apply a cycle of continuous improvement engage in inquiry, action research, data analysis, planning, implementation, reflection, and evaluation
  • Work to align department/division support to the classroom, campus, and district goals for student and educator learning, using data to monitor and measure its effects on educator and student performance
OTHER DUTIES:

VIII. MISCELLANEOUS
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director and Director of Curriculum and Instruction
  • Travel district-wide and occasional out of district; prolonged and irregular hours
