Job summary

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, experience with children, and strong communication, patience, and flexibility. Work is in classrooms in Virginia, with a 10-month schedule and 7 hours per day.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience as a teacher aide or with children preferred.
• NA licenses and certifications not required.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records student data such as skill practice, seizure occurrences, and toileting.
• Provides discipline in the absence of the teacher and maintains consistency with procedures established by the teacher.
• Implements behavior modification plans.
• Practices language activities under the speech therapist direction; reads to students and stimulates language development.
• Supervises learning centers during independent work and assists students with materials.
• Participates in classroom activities and games.
• Operates computer and audiovisual equipment such as DVD, data projector, or smartboards.
