Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking an instructional support aide to assist teachers of students with physical or intellectual disabilities. The role includes preparing classroom materials, supervising students, applying behavior techniques, and performing clerical tasks under teacher supervision.

Responsibilities also cover personal hygiene assistance, supporting language development activities, and operating classroom tech.

Qualifications

• Ability to work under the supervision of the teacher, following lesson plans.
• Ability to work with individual children and small groups to meet instructional objectives.
• Physical ability to lift, position and assist students as required.
• Adapt to wide differences in student characteristics and abilities.
• Operate standard office equipment and video equipment; learn to perform basic medical procedures when necessary.
• Good human relations and communications skills; patience and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Collects and records student data such as skill practice, seizure occurrences, and toileting.
• Provides discipline in the absence of the teacher and maintains consistency with procedures.
• Implements behavior modification plans.
• Assists speech and language activities with students as directed by therapists.
• Supervises learning centers during independent work and assists with materials.
• Participates in classroom activities and games.
• Operates computer and audiovisual equipment.
