Job summary

Newark Central School District seeks a dedicated Teacher Aide to support classroom teachers and students across all buildings. The role emphasizes individualized and small-group assistance, along with preparing instructional materials and reinforcing skills under supervision.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, be eligible for fingerprint clearance, and complete mandated trainings within 60 days of hire. Prior school experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Fingerprint clearance required before hire.
• Mandated trainings to be completed within 60 days of hire.
• Preferred work experience in a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or groups on non-instructional projects.
• Assist students in using instructional resources and in developing materials.
• Attend and participate in team meetings for program development.
• Assist in adaptive daily living and self-help skills as needed.
• Reinforce skills taught by therapists and teachers after training.
• Provide clerical support (filing, typing, copying, entering material, calling messages).
• Remove students from situations as directed by the teacher.
• Temporarily monitor the classroom during meetings or to address incidents.
• Other duties as assigned.
