City of New York Department of Education seeks a 2026-2027 School Aide for Pan American International HS in the Bronx. The role supports teachers by handling non-teaching tasks and supervising students during entry, dismissal, lunch, and drills.

Qualifications

• No High School Diploma or GED required
• Excellent record of attendance and punctuality
• Demonstrated ability to work with supervisors and other school-based staff
• Demonstrated history of good human relations
• Demonstrated ability to efficiently carry out assignments
• Bilingual candidates may be considered for schools with student or familial language needs
• Ability to walk or stand for long periods of the day
• Ability to lift objects weighting no more than 10 lbs
• Experience working with students, preferably high school-age
• Ability to hold high school students to high expectations
• Team player with a strong sense of personal responsibility
• Hard-working, urgent, and energetic

Responsabilités

• Relieves teachers of activities that do not require teaching or other professional skills under supervision
• Relieves teachers for yard, hall, lavatory, study hall and other monitorial duties
• Handles, stores, and distributes textbooks and supplies
• Assists with routine clerical work
• Maintains order in the lunchroom and assists lunch service
• Checks reports, notes, library lists, etc.
• Monitors arrival and departure of bus-transported students
• Receives students in the lunchroom and guides them through lunch procedures
• Oversees lunch service and dismissal, including drills
• Performs additional duties as requested by teachers or principals
• Supports overall school operations and student supervision
• Participates in periodic background checks as required by DOE
