Job summary

Monroe #1 BOCES in Fairport, NY is seeking a full-time Long Term Sub paraeducator to support students with disabilities beginning September 2026. You will assist the classroom teacher and help manage activities across multiple settings.

Responsibilities include supervising students, implementing positive behavior supports, preparing materials, and performing clerical tasks. Some transportation and off-campus activities may be required; ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED required.
• 1 year of paid or volunteer experience with people with disabilities, or a childcare course certificate, or a combination of experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with adults and students.
• Physically able to perform essential duties including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with non-instructional duties and test proctoring.
• Supervise students in classroom, hallways, lunchroom and playground.
• Support behavior management and crisis intervention as trained.
• Prepare classroom materials and clerical tasks as directed.
• Provide transportation and support for community-based activities when needed.
• Assist students with mobility and personal care.
• Participate in ongoing professional development and attend meetings.
