Job summary

Ste Genevieve School District R-2 seeks a Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and student care. You will assist the lead teacher in meeting the class objectives and in implementing student support plans across designated locations and times.

You will help maintain a positive learning environment, handle behavior, and assist with health-related procedures as trained. A strong communicator with willingness to pursue training is essential.

Qualifications

• Must have passed the MEGA Paraprofessional assessment.
• Associate degree or 60 credit hours for TA I-60.
• Missouri teaching certificate for TA II.
• Willingness to pursue additional training as required.
• Good communication and public relations skills.
• Board may deem additional qualifications appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist assigned teachers to meet and instruct classes at designated locations/times.
• Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and interests.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and safety.
• Help set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Implement varied instructional techniques and media as appropriate.
• Support district mission in the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan.
• Observe, record, and assess student progress and behavior regularly.
• Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
• Provide escort and assistance to students in school/community settings.
• Enforce policies and classroom rules fairly and consistently.
• Strive to maintain professional competence and notify about problems.
