Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support classroom activities and student supervision on a daily basis. Under the direction of a licensed teacher, you will assist with instructional tasks, bulletin boards, and material preparation in a busy school environment.

The role includes tutoring under supervision, helping with assignments, and supporting teachers in maintaining an orderly classroom. CPS offers comprehensive health benefits, retirement plans, and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid ISBE paraprofessional license or obtain it after 60 college credits.
• Paraprofessional exam (Work Keys or Parapro) may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervising students during lunch and playground activities.
• Assist teachers with classroom setup, bulletin boards and displays.
• Provide tutoring and help students with assignments under teacher supervision.
• Assist in library/book processing and orderly classroom arrangements.
• Support in transportation duties such as loading/unloading buses and absences reporting.
