Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is seeking a Tutor Advisor to provide instructional support under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. The tutor advisor will work with students needing academic intervention and may assist with classroom management and instructional materials.

This .75 FTE position pays $19.77 per hour, works six hours daily for 202 days per year, and includes opportunities to conduct progress monitoring, communicate with parents, support library activities,

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain effective communication with students and staff
• Ability to carry out and evaluate student achievement after the teacher prepares the lesson
• Ability to test and identify and keep accurate records on students
• Demonstrate adequate level of instructional technology skills
• Experience with diverse student backgrounds in instructional settings

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring when scheduled
• Assist with classroom management and organize materials
• Compile and maintain accurate student records (attendance, testing, progress)
• Provide information and instructional support to classroom instructors
• Conduct parent involvement activities and communicate with guardians
• Support library or media center activities
• Provide instructional support under teacher supervision
• Prepare items for newsletters or announcements and assist events
• Conduct progress monitoring assessments and maintain data
