Job summary

Lufkin ISD seeks a Student Support Specialist to enhance academic achievement and social-emotional learning districtwide. The role coordinates services to develop each student's academic, career, personal, and social abilities and address the needs of special populations.

Plan and conduct structured guidance lessons; collaborate with teachers on guidance-related curriculum. Guide students and parents to plan, monitor, and manage graduation plans and post-secondary opportunities; support at-risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree required; Texas teacher certification preferred.
• Knowledge of comprehensive, coordinated, integrated, and customized supports that are accessible, timely, and strength-based to students.
• Two years teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct structured guidance lessons; collaborate with teachers on guidance-related curriculum.
• Guide students and parents to plan, monitor, and manage graduation plans and post-secondary opportunities; support at-risk students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom.
• Coordinate school, home, and community resources and refer students, parents, and others to programs and services as needed.
• Interpret standardized test results and assessment data to guide student goal setting and planning.
• Plan, evaluate, and promote continuous improvement in student support services and advocate for a diverse school environment.
• Provide professional communication with students, parents, staff, and community members at all times.
