Job summary

Dallas College is seeking an on-site Student Support Assistant to help students access campus resources, set goals, and plan their academic paths, including support for first-generation Pell Grant recipients and students with disabilities.

Strong communication, customer service, and ability to guide students through advising tools are required, with responsibilities including form processing, scheduling, and completing mandatory professional development hours.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Must have attended at least two semesters at Dallas College and maintain a GPA of 3.0.
• A valid Texas driver’s license is required for travel throughout the Dallas College area locations.
• Official transcripts will be required to verify completion of two semesters and GPA.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers routine questions and processes forms per departmental requirements.
• Provides information and assists students with career planning tools such as SIGI and DISCOVER.
• Plans and schedules activities for students with direct instructions and supervisor assistance.
• Utilizes the computer to present information and conduct internet searches for college/university information and financial aid resources.
• Refer students to supervisor for advanced assistance.
• Assist students in creating a customized course selection guide and academic action plan.
• Complete required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
