Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Paraeducator for the Judy Center at Joppatowne Elementary School. The role supports instructional programs, activities, and the personal needs of students, both in-person and virtually.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with options for higher education credits or paraprofessional exams. Candidates should have strong communication skills and be able to lift up to 40 pounds, with training in restraint techniques.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Associate of arts degree or higher, or 48 college credits with grade C or higher, or qualifying paraprofessional exam.
• For testing: ParaPro score 455+; ParaPathways: Reading/Writing 332+ and Math 334+; Foundations of Classroom Support 517/519 220+.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to be trained in restraint techniques.
• Ability to lift and transfer students up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide supported instruction to families and children in learning/playgroup classrooms.
• Work with the Judy Center team to integrate components of the program.
• Assist students with tasks and reinforce activities.
• Prepare instructional materials as needed.
• Support data collection and student assessment.
• Assist with services for families and participate in professional development.
• Provide instruction support via digital platforms when needed.
