Job summary

Colchester High School, part of Colchester School District in Colchester, Vermont, seeks a Secondary Employment Paraeducator to support students on job sites and in classrooms, implementing teacher-prepared plans and coordinating with the Employment Specialist. A Bachelor’s Degree is required for Title 1 Paraeducators, with wage in the $17–$28 per hour range and full-time scheduling

Qualifications

• Experience and/or demonstrated ability working with students.
• Skill in curriculum adaptation, behavior management techniques, and record keeping.
• Title 1 Paraeducators will be required to have a Bachelor’s Degree.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with current and potential employers to assist students in securing employment.
• Work with students on job sites.
• Implement lesson plans (prepared by classroom teacher) for students individually, in small groups, or within classrooms, as assigned.
• Assist instructional support service teachers and/or classroom teachers as planned and requested.
• Supervise and manage students, as assigned.
• Correct student work; assist with routine clerical functions.
• Assist in organizing special events and/or student activities.
• Implement curriculum adaptations; follow behavioral management plans, and collect/maintain data files.
• Participate in training prior to working with students on confidentiality and other necessary instructional strategies as determined by Building Administrators and Special Education staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal, other administrators, and/or designated teachers.
